100 Years of Wigan Wheelers

2019 is 100 years since the founding of Wigan Wheelers on 2nd October 1919.  There will be some special ways to celebrate this year:

Centenary Celebration Dinner

On Saturday 30th March 120 members and friends, past and present enjoyed a special evening at Wigan Cricket Club.  We were greeted with a glass of fizz and entered the very smart Pavilion Suite, the sophisticated piano-bar mood was completed by Conal Duffy on keyboard.  After an hour of chat and mingling we were served a lovely four course dinner.  'Flying Scotsman" Graeme Obree was the guest speaker and he kept us well entertained with his sharp often self depreciating wit and tales from his time as world champion and hour record beater.  He answered questions from the audience - some serious, some not, and afterwards he chatted patently with whoever wanted a bit of his time.

Thanks go to Judith Baxendale and Nigel Clementson for organising the event.  It was very popular and quickly sold out, they are sorry they could not squeeze any more people in.

New 100 mile competition

To kick start the year with our 100 year theme there is going to be a member's  competition for those that complete 1000+ miles in 10 months.  Rules:
